(AR Media) Hyderabad:
The BRS party is planning a huge public meeting in Warangal district on the 27th of this month to overcome the dilution of the party’s popularity across the state. Party chief KCR has already ordered that the public meeting being held on the occasion of the party’s silver jubilee be held on a grand scale unlike any other party in the past. KCR is instructing the party leaders to take people to this meeting on a large scale without scrupling over expenses and challenge the Congress government. As part of this, regular meetings are being held with key leaders in the party. They are also providing the necessary funds and raising hopes for the future.
Will the people come closer to the party just by holding a public meeting? Is it possible for the party to regain its former glory?
Initially, TRS was a popular movement among the people. TRS, which was formed as a movement party in 2001 to achieve a separate Telangana, was later transformed into a political party by its leader KCR. After years of agitation, a separate Telangana was formed in 2014.
KCR’s credit-stealing tactics:
There were many reasons for the formation of Telangana, but KCR took all the credit for it. You will remember that KCR has said many times that Telangana was formed because of KCR’s struggles and his death threats. Despite his death threats, his claims of fasting until death, and his years of struggle, TRS managed to win only 62 seats in the 2014 elections.
The party that wins more than 60 seats out of the total 119 assembly seats is the one in power. The people gave TRS only a simple majority. This means that separate Telangana did not come about solely because of KCR, and the people should understand that TRS does not need more seats. That is why KCR opened the door to defection politics with the suspicion that his government could collapse at any time. He divided the TDP and Congress parties.
BJP became stronger because of KCR:
What happened because of KCR’s actions is that the BJP replaced the TDP. If KCR wanted to eliminate any opposition to him, the people themselves raised the BJP as an opposition to KCR.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the people made the BJP win four parliamentary seats. The fact that the BJP won even in the Adilabad constituency, where there were no workers to hoist the flag, is only KCR’s merit. Earlier, it won the Dubbaka assembly by-election, and later, it was KCR’s merit to win 48 divisions in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.
Finally, in 2003, when TRS lost power, Congress took power. The main reason why BJP won 8 seats in the 2023 assembly elections and 8 seats in the 2024 parliamentary elections is KCR alone. It is because of KCR that BJP is sitting alone. An example of this is the BJP winning two seats in the recently held graduate and teachers MLC elections.
Former minister and BRS working president KTR says KCR as the father of Telangana every day, but why did BRS lose in the 2023 elections? Why is there opposition among the people against KCR’s rule, which achieved Telangana with a death sentence? Because, it must be said, it is because of KCR’s stubbornness. The people openly said that anarchy had reached a certain level during the nine-year BRS rule. Even though KCR tried his best to win the Huzurabad seat in the assembly by-election, analyses were made at that time that anarchy was the reason for the party’s defeat. The Huzurabad by-election created a record as the most expensive election. Despite KCR’s efforts to win the by-election and the temptations he faced, the people defeated BRS. You will remember that the people openly said that they would not vote for BRS.
The party and the government were blown up.
After coming to power, KCR has ruined the party and the government. As the Chief Minister, he would not even come to the Secretariat for weeks. As the party chief, he was unavailable to the leaders for months. Instead of KCR, his son KTR, daughter Kavitha, and nephew Harish Rao are seen. However, KCR has forgotten that the people voted for BRS and made it win, not them. Will KCR, who is not available to ministers, MLAs, and MPs, now look at the faces of lower-level leaders and cadres? At the same time, there was a huge campaign that corruption and anarchy had increased. Overall, KCR became the Chief Minister only for the good of his family. But people openly accused him of not improving the state.
During the elections, many promises made in the by-elections were not implemented. Many schemes like three acres of land for Dalits, double-bedroom houses for the poor, and Dalit Bandhu remained just election schemes.
Passion for national politics:
On the one hand, public opposition to the party and the government is increasing, but on the other hand, KCR’s desire to turn the wheel in national politics has increased. That is why TRS was changed to BRS. He said something like that if given the opportunity, he would become the Prime Minister, play a key role in national politics, and implement the BRS agenda throughout the country. KCR is deluded that he will play a key role in the formation of the central government whenever the parliamentary elections come around.
National leaders who do not trust KCR:
KCR has forgotten the simple logic that if he wants to play a key role in national politics, the support of the leaders of the other parties is very important. The fact that KCR is not a trustworthy leader has already become strong at the national level. That is why he went to Tamil Nadu Stalin, Karnataka Devi Gowda, West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra, Delhi Kejriwal, and Odisha to meet the Chief Ministers and leaders of the opposition parties, but no one stood in support. That is why the people have clarity about the role that KCR will play in national politics. After all, the people thought that KCR, who is going to enter national politics and spin the wheel, has no business in Telangana, so they defeated BRS in the 2023 elections and made Congress win.
Baka’s social media presence:
The current situation of the party is that there is more of a buzz on social media and less among the people. The working president, Harish, and Kavitalu are making allegations and criticisms against the Revanth Reddy government every day as if they have set a timetable. Even though KTR, Harish, and Kavitalu are saying that BRS will win the elections, there is no such scene. Because at the field level, people do not seem to be leaning towards BRS. It is true that people are dissatisfied with the Congress government. But, if the elections come, the idea of ousting the Congress and urgently handing over power to BRS is not seen among the people.
KCR has captivated all sections:
People are observing that KTR, Harish and Kavita are demanding that the Revanth Reddy government do the things that they could not do in nine and a half years of power within a year. It is a fact that the education sector has been corrupted during the BRS regime. KCR has blown up welfare hostels. The public debate on KCR’s corruption has been a huge minus for the party as the Kaleshwaram and Medigadda irrigation projects have stalled during the elections. Similarly, the journalists who had hoped to provide places to Hyderabad journalists have come together and are ready to defeat KCR. Mainly, the journalists of Jawaharlal Nehru Housing Society openly campaigned against KCR and became the reason for the party’s defeat. Leaving aside teaching and non-teaching appointments in universities, KCR could not even appoint vice-chancellors. Whenever group exams were conducted, the state was rocked by question paper leaks, suicides of unemployed people, and agitations. The introduction of the Dharani portal increased opposition among farmers and the middle class. Farmers were shackled and sent to jail for demanding and agitating for remunerative prices for their crops.
KCR refuses to leave farmhouse:
KCR is meeting leaders frequently because of the open house. Otherwise, he would not have left the farmhouse and come out, and would not have allowed the leaders to come in. KCR has forgotten that the people have elected him to serve as the leader of the opposition. Even if there are storms, incessant heavy rains, or people are in any kind of trouble, KCR does not come out. It is clear that KCR has an attitude that the people who defeated him must be punished. Moreover, KCR and KTR are saying every day that whenever elections are held, the power belongs to BRS.
It would be good for KCR to remember that no party that is distant from the people has ever come to power. The future of the party depends on what KCR says at the public meeting to be held on the 27th.
