Heavy rains and floods are ravaging Kerala, a land of natural beauty. The death toll in landslides in Wayanad is increasing. The Kerala Revenue Department has revealed that 93 people have been identified as dead so far. It said that 98 people are still missing. It said that 116 people were injured and they are being treated in hospitals.
Meanwhile, it is raining incessantly in Wayanad region. This is hampering the relief efforts. NDRF, Army and Kerala Police are also using the services of drones and police patrols in the relief operations.
A landslide occurred at Mundakai in Wayanad region last midnight. The authorities moved the people of that area to a school at Chural Mala. But in the early morning there was also a landslide and those taking shelter in the school got lost. Schools, houses and shops in the neighborhood were washed away.
Many people lost their lives in the muddy flood waters. Many are still waiting for help under the rubble. It seems that landslides occurred in Mundakai region this afternoon as well.
