Kangana Ranaut’s election as BJP MP from Mandi challenged, high court issues notice
Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued notices to Bollywood famous actress and MP Kangana Ranaut. Layakram Negi, a resident of Kinnaur, filed a petition claiming that his nomination papers to contest from Mandi Lok Sabha constituency were arbitrarily rejected, otherwise he would have won. The High Court, which inquired into the matter, ordered the MP to give an explanation on the matter by August 21.
Negi, who worked in the forest department, retired early to enter the election ring. After that, along with the nomination papers, the ‘No Due’ certificate issued by the department was also attached. However, the returning officer spent a day telling them to bring certificates from the electricity, drinking water and telephone departments as well.
Negi alleged in his petition that he had taken them earlier but the returning officer refused to take them. Negi requested the court to nullify the election saying that if he had accepted his nomination papers that day, he would have definitely won the election. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut, who contested on behalf of BJP in this election, won against Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh in Mandi by 74,755 votes.
