A Midlands couple claims Ryanair staff stopped them from flying and escorted them out of an airport like ‘criminals’ over a ‘tea stain’ on one of their passports. Rory Allen and Nina Wilkins planned to jet off from East Midlands Airport for a week in Costa Brava, Spain, on Sunday, July 7.
…A couple accused British Airways of being pushed out of the airport because of a tea stain on their passport She said that even though she had traveled with the same passport in the past, she had never encountered such a problem. Britain’s Rory Allen and Nina Wilkins recently had this unexpected experience.
According to the victims, they both arrived at East Midlands Airport to fly to Costa Bava in Spain. They showed their passports and other documents at the Ryanair check-in counter. The staff there found a tea stain on Nina’s passport and allowed her to enter. After that they went through the security checks and reached the boarding gate. The staff there objected because there was a tea stain on Neena’s passport. The passport was not allowed to board the flight saying it was invalid due to discolouration. After that the security personnel came and escorted them out of the airport. So, they booked Jet2 Airlines ticket and left.
After that, the British couple shared their experience. He questioned how another company is implementing rules that one airline company does not have. He said that even if there is a tea stain, all the important details in the passport are visible. Mandila said that the usual rules are being implemented. Rory mentioned that Nina had traveled with the same passport before. He complained that they were brought out of the airport like criminals in the name of small tea stain.
Ryanair also responded to the incident. It is clear that they have followed the rules. It has been revealed that it is clear in the rules that discolored passports are invalid. However, the check-in counter staff admitted that it was their mistake to let the couple in
